A Suffolk County police officer shot and killed a bulldog early Wednesday in Setauket after three people said it attacked them in their home, according to police.

A resident called 911 about 12:30 a.m. to report the dog was biting them at their home on St. George Glen Road, police said.

Police said the 6½-year-old English bulldog then attacked an officer, who fired his pistol and killed the dog.

Three residents of the home — two women and a man — along with the police officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated, police said.
