An 89-year-old woman from Orient was injured Thursday when the gas pedal in her car became stuck -- and she crashed into a building in Mattituck -- police said the woman told them.
Southold Town police said Dorothy Fisher sustained a leg injury in the crash and was transported by Mattituck Fire Department ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment.
Her condition was not immediately known Friday.
Police said Fisher told them she had just used the cash machine at a bank in Mattituck Plaza and was attempting to leave the area when the pedal in her 2001 Mercury became stuck at 1:10 p.m. -- and she crashed into Renee's home furnishings store.
The damage to the building was not detailed.
No charged were filed, police said.
