The westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway were closed for about a half-hour Monday morning near Route 110 in Melville after a car fire, officials said.

The lanes were closed as of 5:02 a.m. and were reopened at 5:37 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation website informny.com.

Suffolk County police said traffic was briefly diverted onto the service road at Exit 49 south.

Police said two cars were involved in an accident and there was a fire, but no serious injuries were reported.
