Two of three lanes of the Long Island Expressway are being closed nightly in each direction in Yaphank to allow maintenance work on the LIE bridge over the Carmans River at Exit 67, officials said.

The closures, between exits 66 and 68, will be in effect Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., weather permitting, the state Department of Transportation said.

The project is expected to last through late fall, DOT said.
