Part of Route 114 in East Hampton will be a single lane for three days this week as the roadway is repaved, the state Department of Transportation said Tuesday.

The single lane, with southbound and northbound traffic taking turns, took effect immediately between Toilsome Lane and Stephen Hands Path from 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the department said. It said the disruption could last three days, depending on the weather.

"These single travel lane operations are needed to repair and repave a deteriorated section of NY Route 114 to help assure the safety of motorists," the department said in a statement.

The department asked people to drive carefully through the work zone and obey the posted construction speed limit.
