Some lanes will be closed during the overnight hours for a few weeks on Sunrise Highway or its service road on the border of Babylon and West Islip, state officials said.
The closures begin tonight in the area of Exit 40, the state Department of Transportation said.
The work will begin each night at 10 p.m. and continue until 6 a.m. the following day, the DOT said. The work will take place Sunday through Friday, the department said.
The closures are necessary as work is done on the Route 231 overpass, the DOT said.
There will be no full closure of either the highway or the service, the DOT said. Work will begin in the eastbound lanes, then move to the westbound lanes, the DOT said.
