Only a single lane will be open Friday on the southbound Great South Bay Bridge of the Robert Moses Causeway, the State Department of Transportation said.

The restriction will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow DOT to inspect the structure, the agency said.

The single lane is available at all times to emergency vehicles and the restriction will not affect mariners, DOT said.

DOT said motorists should drive carefully through the work zone and follow speed restrictions and the instructions of the flag persons.
