Driver, 90, killed in Commack car accident

An accident involving a truck and a car occurred on Vanderbilt Motor Parkway east of Commack Road in Commack at 9:28 a.m., police said. (Oct. 2, 2012) Credit: James Carbone
A 90-year-old man was killed Tuesday in a car accident in Commack, police said.
Abraham Sparber, of Commack, was in a 2010 Hyundai and trying to turn left from a parking lot onto the eastbound Motor Parkway when he was struck by a 2003 box truck being driven west by Patrick Williams, 46, of Deer Park, police said.
Sparber was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead. Williams was not injured.
Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the crash, and anyone with information can call 631-854-8452.
