A Holtsville man was arrested Friday morning on charges of driving without a license after he struck and seriously wounded a pedestrian crossing Route 347 in Hauppauge, police said.

Jaime Ceron, 37, of Holtsville, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. They said he hit Fredi Yanes, 19, of Glen Cove, at 1:47 a.m.

Yanes was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition, Suffolk County police said. They did not know what his injuries were.

Ceron was scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.

Police had previously said that the accident was in Smithtown.
