A motorist who ran a red light and broadsided a sedan driven by a 71-year-old East Patchogue woman last year was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years in prison, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

Justin Klein, 24, of Medford, was driving his pickup south on Sills Road in East Patchogue when he ran the light at Gazzola Drive and crashed into the car driven by Camille Ricciardo on April 17, 2013.

Ricciardo died at the scene.

Police said Klein had a small amount of heroin.

He was convicted of offenses including aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree manslaughter, possession of heroin and driving while under a combined influence of drugs.
