Driver in serious condition after crash in Lake Grove

A driver was in serious condition Tuesday afternoon after crashing his Nissan into a utility pole in Lake Grove, authorities said.
He was going southbound on Hawkins Avenue when he lost control and struck a pole near Terry Avenue just after 1:35 p.m., police said.
Detectives were not able to identify the driver, who was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.
He was expected to survive, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Fourth Precinct detectives ask anyone with information to call 631-854-8452. No other details were immediately available Tuesday evening.
