A driver who smashed his car into a utility pole in Copiague late Monday was taken to a nearby hospital with cracked ribs, Suffolk County police said.
Juan Baez Rodriguez, 25, of Copiague was alone in a 2004 Honda sedan when he hit a Long Island Power Authority pole on Marconi Boulevard shortly after 11 p.m., police said.
The vehicle was crushed, but Rodriguez had only minor injuries -- including the cracked ribs -- at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said.
There was no indication of intoxication, but Rodriguez was ticketed for reckless driving, police said.
