Driver killed after crashing into Melville guardrail, cops say
Suffolk Second Squad detectives said they are investigating an accident that took the life of a motorist who lost control of a car, crossed a median and crashed into a guardrail in Melville Tuesday night.
The 50-year-old driver, whose identity police were withholding, hit the structure while driving a 2016 Nissan Maxima westbound on Old Country Road near Old East Neck Road shortly after 7 p.m., police said.
The victim was taken to Plainview Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said, adding that the cause of the crash was unclear.
