Driver killed in Islip Terrace crash
One driver was killed and the other injured in a two-car crash Monday morning in Islip Terrace, police said.
The accident occurred at 6:58 a.m. at Sea Cliff Street and Lowell Avenue, police said.
William Geist, 51, of Islip Terrace, was driving a 1999 Saturn east on Sea Cliff and Maria Creedon, 31, of Greenlawn, was heading south on Lowell in a 2005 Maxima when the cars collided, police said.
Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where Geist was pronounced dead a short time later. Creedon, who sustained multiple injuries including a fractured right knee, was in satisfactory condition, police said.
Both cars were impounded for safety checks, police said.
