A 22-year-old Medford man was killed Monday morning after his sport utility vehicle overturned "several times" on the Long Island Expressway North service road, ejecting him from the vehicle, police said.

Devin Velastegui was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he later died, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Velastegui was driving a 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer westbound on Express Drive North, when he lost control just west of Route 112 in Medford.

The crash occurred at 4:48 a.m., police said. The on-site accident investigation closed the road until just after 10 a.m.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652. The investigation is continuing.
