Driver of go-kart struck by SUV in Shirley, Suffolk police say
Suffolk police said a man sustained nonlife-threatening injuries Thursday night when an SUV struck a go-kart he was driving in Shirley.
Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which occurred at about 6:45 p.m., police said.
A 25-year-old man was driving the go-kart through the intersection of East Flintlock Drive and William Floyd Parkway when he was struck by a southbound SUV, police said.
A Suffolk County police helicopter took the go-kart driver to Stony Brook University Hospital. He also was issued several summonses, police said.
The SUV driver was not hurt and stayed at the scene, police said.
