A driver and his passenger were injured after their car struck a parked truck making a delivery at a Flanders deli Saturday, Southampton police said.

John Mackey, 55, and Lorraine McLoughlin, 62, both of Flanders, hit a box truck that was unoccupied and stopped in front of a deli on Flanders Road near Gilder Avenue, police said.

Rescue workers from Flanders Fire Department and Flanders North Hampton Ambulance used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove Mackey and McLoughlin from the 2000 Chevrolet he was driving, police said.

Both were airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, which police described as extensive.

Citing privacy laws, police said they would have no update on the medical conditions of Mackey and McLoughlin.
