Driver seriously hurt in Huntington accident
A driver was seriously hurt Wednesday morning in Huntington when his car was hit by a motorist trying to make a left turn, Suffolk police said.
Nathaniel Eikenes, 22, of Huntington, was in his Volkswagen going south on Park Avenue as a Chrysler minivan in the northbound lane made a left onto Jericho Turnpike, police said.
The minivan and the Volkswagen crashed just before 8:30 a.m., and Eikenes was taken to Huntington Hospital, police said. He was in serious condition in the intensive care unit at the hospital, Second Squad detectives said.
The Chrysler's driver, Thomas Depalo, 37, of Dix Hills, and his two children, ages 4 and 7, were treated at Huntington Hospital and released, police said.
