Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a woman Wednesday night in Yaphank and are asking anyone with information to call them.

The incident occurred on Caroline Street near Granny Road at about 11:15 p.m., police said. They said the woman was walking along Caroline when the driver hit her and fled.

The driver, a man, was in a silver Saturn, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the victim, a woman in her 20s, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Her condition was not known on Thursday.
