Police on Tuesday said they are still seeking leads in the death of a man who was struck by two sport utility vehicles as he bicycled across South Country Road in East Patchogue last month.

Eric Dennis, 22, left behind a wife and three children.

Suffolk County police want to find the driver of the second vehicle, which did not stop after hitting Dennis. They are hoping someone out there knows something useful and will call Crime Stoppers.

The fatal accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, police said.

Dennis, the father of two boys and a girl, was struck by a westbound vehicle, then an eastbound vehicle. Police said the driver of the first SUV stopped, but the driver of the second vehicle, a light-colored SUV, continued on, police said. Police said Dennis was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he died.

"He was a good father, a very good father," Essex Williams, the grandfather of Dennis, told Newsday last month. "It's a great tragedy for our family and it'll take me a while to realize what a disaster this is . . . I hope that the driver of the vehicle that didn't stop will realize this wasn't a possum or a raccoon or a dog. This was a human life. I hope they come to that realization -- and turn themselves in to police."

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential -- and police said callers are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
