A two-car crash Monday morning in Wading River left both drivers hospitalized with serious injuries, Riverhead town police said.

The crash occurred at 5:46 a.m. on Route 25A near Dogwood Drive in Wading River.

A 2005 Ford, driven by Ellen Reilley, 60, of Hampton Bays, was headed westbound on Route 25A, when a 2009 Volkswagen driven by Phillip J. Massimino, 58, of Wading River, turned left onto Route 25A from Dogwood, police said.

The vehicles collided, both drivers receiving "serious physical injuries," police said. Both were taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately known Tuesday.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Police said the investigation is continuing.
