A driving instructor was killed Monday in Port Jefferson Station after veering into oncoming traffic and hitting three cars, Suffolk County police said.

Leonard Sloan, 59, of Manorville was driving a Chevrolet Malibu owned by Fitzgerald's Driving School of North Babylon when he likely had a heart attack on Nesconset Highway, police said.

He was going west when he lost control of the car just before 1 p.m. The vehicle struck three cars that were in the eastbound turning lanes waiting to turn left onto Davis Avenue.

Sloan did not have any passengers, police said.

He was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

None of the other drivers were injured, police said.

All four vehicles were impounded for a safety check, police said.

Sixth Precinct police ask anyone with information to call 631-854-8652.
