An Ozone Park man was arrested and charged with drunken driving Tuesday on the Northern State Parkway where, State Police said, he passed a trooper while going 30 mph over the speed limit.

State police said the trooper was driving westbound near Wolf Hill Road in South Huntington about 7:28 p.m., when his marked car was passed by a green Nissan Maxima, going about 85 mph in a 55-mph zone.

The trooper pulled over car and found the driver, Jorge Lasluisa-Escobar, 41, had a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" and "bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech," according to a news release.

Lasluisa-Escobar failed sobriety tests and was arrested. He also produced a positive breath-analyzer reading of .20 percent, police said.

He is charged with driving while intoxicated and traffic violations, police said.

His arraignment information at First District Court in Central Islip was not immediately available.
