E. Moriches man charged with child porn

An East Moriches man was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of child pornography, Suffolk police said.

Damien O'Brien, 32, of 13 Linda La., turned himself into officers at the Seventh Precinct about 8 p.m., police said. Investigators had executed a search warrant at O'Brien's home last week and seized computers, CDs and DVDs that contained a large quantity of child pornography, police said.

Sgt. John Sumwalt, commanding officer of the Computer Crimes Unit said, “We take an aggressive approach to combating child exploitation over the Internet, and various law enforcement tools alerted us to the potential that there'd be child pornography there.”

O'Brien, who is unemployed, was to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court, Central Islip.
