A crash between a van and a Suffolk County Transit bus forced the closure of northbound Wellwood Avenue at Long Island Avenue in East Farmingdale for about an hour Friday, Suffolk County police said. The crash occurred at 7:55 a.m.

The road was officially closed at 8:22 a.m. Police said an OK was given to reopen the road at 9:19 a.m., but said it was not immediately clear if the road was reopened at that time.

Police said the driver of the minivan was briefly trapped and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no other reported injuries.

Traffic was diverted and Motor Carrier Safety Unit officers responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the crash.
