East Hampton cops investigate 'stranger danger'
East Hampton Town police are investigating the report of a man driving a white car who asked a boy on Thursday if he needed a ride home from school.
The boy, 13, a student at Springs School in East Hampton, was approached while walking on Springs Fireplace Road after getting off his school bus at about 3:30 p.m., police said in a Friday news release.
The man -- heavyset and shirtless with grey hair and a mustache -- was driving a white sedan and asked several times if the boy needed a ride home, police said.
The student answered no but the man kept asking before driving off, police said.
Anyone with information on the so-called "stranger danger" can call East Hampton Town Police at 631-537-7575.
