East Islip crash involved unlicensed driver, Suffolk police say

Two people suffered minor injuries early Saturday in an accident in East Islip involving two Jeeps, Suffolk County police said.
Police said the crash happened at about 1:40 a.m. when a 2009 Jeep rear-ended a 2008 Jeep on West Main Street, causing the 2008 Jeep to cross all lanes of traffic and crash into a barrier in front of Brookwood Hall.
The driver of the 2009 Jeep walked away but was located a short time later, police said.
Police said both drivers were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver of the 2009 Jeep was issued a summons for speeding and a summons for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
No other details, including the identities of the drivers, were immediately available.
