East Northport accident injures bicyclist, police say
Suffolk County police said they are investigating a crash in East Northport Wednesday that seriously injured a bicyclist.
Peter Ingoglia, 53, of East Northport was driving north on Laurel Road just before 10:30 p.m. when a man, 18, who was attempting to cross the road on a bicycle, crashed into Ingoglia’s 2004 Ford Expedition, police said in a news release.
The bicyclist, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.
Second Squad detectives said Ingoglia remained at the scene and no charges were filed.
Ingoglia’s Expedition was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
