The Babylon Fire Department responds to North Carll Avenue and Main Street for a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle that stayed at the scene at 9:58 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, police said. Credit: Paul Mazza

A 47-year-old East Northport man was struck and critically injured by a car Thursday night in Babylon, police said.

Suffolk County police said the victim, identified as Clifford Hammond, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by Babylon Rescue.

The accident occurred on Main Street near North Carll Avenue at 9:58 p.m.

Police said the victim was crossing Main Street when he was struck by a westbound 1999 Kia Sephia driven by Richard Davis, 73, of West Babylon. Police said Davis remained at the scene and was not charged. The investigation into the accident is continuing.

Police are asking anyone with information to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.
