A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after police said he lost control of his car and knocked down two utility poles early Tuesday in East Quogue.

Keith C. Dillon of East Quogue was charged with driving while intoxicated after the one-car crash on Old Country Road at 1:03 a.m., Southampton Town police said.

Police said Dillon "failed to negotiate a curve in the road" near Gleason Drive, crossing the double yellow centerlines then striking -- and, knocking down -- the utility poles. Police said the investigation at the scene showed Dillon "was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition." No other details were immediately available.

The crash knocked out power and closed the road between East End Avenue and Vail Avenue for almost five hours while LIPA crews made repairs, police said.

Dillon was not injured.

Arraignment information was not immediately available.
