Rocky Point man killed in East Shoreham crash, police say

A Rocky Point man died died Sunday evening when his car struck a utility pole in East Shoreham, according to Suffolk County police.
Joseph Labate, 60, was driving west on Route 25A in his 2001 Isuzu Rodeo, when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole near Miller Avenue at approximately 6 p.m., police said.
Labate was transported by the Rocky Point Fire Department ambulance to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson Station where he was pronounced dead.
The Isuzu was impounded for a safety check, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said.
