A Mount Sinai man was killed in a single-car crash Sunday, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Edward Drumgole, 43, was driving south on Chestnut Street in Mount Sinai in a 2010 Honda Accord when he "apparently lost control" of the car and struck a tree about 5 p.m.

The car then spun around and struck a pole, police said. The car came to rest on the front lawn of a Chestnut Street home.

Police said emergency personnel took Drumgole to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information for the ongoing investigation can call police at 631-854-8652.
