A Brentwood man was arrested Monday night and charged with drunken driving after he crashed his car in Brentwood, injuring his female passenger, police said.

Jose Trigueros, 25, of Willoughby Street, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with minor injuries, and then was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, Suffolk County police said.

He was arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Central Islip. Bail was set at $2,500 and he was represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on cases.

Police said a passenger, Elia Treminio-Martinez, 38, Brentwood, suffered a broken femur. She also was taken to Southside, where she was in stable condition.

Trigueros was driving a 2005 Nissan at 9:45 p.m. when police said the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn at the intersection of Prospect Drive and Eastern Avenue, and crashed into a tree.

The car was impounded for a safety check and police said the investigation is continuing.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
