An emergency response vehicle from the Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corps was involved in a crash Wednesday night in Wyandanch, police said.

Suffolk County police could not immediately confirm reports of injuries. A spokeswoman for the ambulance company said it had no comment.

The crash occurred at about 10 p.m. on Long Island Avenue near the intersection of South 18th Street, police said.

The EMS unit collided there with a vehicle in dense fog.

The intersection is controlled by a traffic light.

Police could not immediately detail the circumstances leading to the crash in which the EMS unit hit a utility pole.
