Although environmentalist Adrienne Esposito's decision whether to run for State Senate remains a week away, Suffolk Republican chairman John Jay LaValle says she should step down or take a leave of absence from her nonprofit Citizens Campaign for the Environment if she runs. LaValle said that by law, tax-exempt groups must be nonpolitical. Esposito dismissed LaValle's suggestion, saying the group "has always been and will always be nonpolitical."
