Ex-Boy Scouts leader charged with child porn
A former top Boy Scouts leader in Suffolk County has been charged with possession of child pornography in Indiana, court records show.
Federal prosecutors on Tuesday announced the charges against Ryan Bieler, 33, of Jasper, Ind. Bieler, who served as district executive for the Suffolk County Council Boy Scouts of America for seven years before leaving the job in 2011, was fired from his job as a senior district executive for the Boy Scouts in Evansville, Ind., when the allegations surfaced, the Evansville Courier & Press reported.
Prosecutors said Bieler purchased DVDs from an overseas business that mailed the graphic movies to his home. He also downloaded videos of young boys and girls engaged in sexual activities, according to court records.
Bieler is being held without bail.
Suffolk scout officials could not be reached for comment.
