Former Patchogue Mayor Steve Keegan, a Republican, has joined the Levy administration as a $48,442-a-year neighborhood aide in the Labor Department. Mark Smith, administration spo-kesman, said Keegan has been on the job for about three months and federal aid fully reimburses Keegan's pay. John Jay LaValle, Suffolk GOP chairman, said he recommended Keegan. "We thought the former mayor was very well qualified, and he wanted to serve again in government, and was excited by the opportunity," LaValle said. - Rick Brand
