Multiple people injured in Yaphank crash, Suffolk police say
A collision between a garbage truck and another vehicle left multiple people injured Friday morning in Yaphank, and forced the closure of Express Drive North at Yaphank Avenue and the westbound off ramp of the Long Island Expressway at Exit 67 for about 6½ hours, Suffolk County police said.
Police said the crash on Yaphank Avenue was reported in a 911 call at 5:52 a.m., but said details of the crash were still emerging. It was not clear how many people were injured and the extent of any injuries also was unclear.
Police said the roads were reopened just before 12:30 p.m. Additional information was not immediately available.
