Farmingdale State College: 'Alert' after threat
Officials at Farmingdale State College are "remaining alert" but did not evacuate or close the campus after a threat, said Kathy Coley from the school's office of advancement.
Earlier in the afternoon the school had been notified by Suffolk County police of a threat, which was not found to be credible, Coley said.
"Today we received notification from the Suffolk County Police Department of a threat to the campus," said W. Hubert Keen, president, in a statement. "Upon investigation, the threat turned out to be not credible."
He went on to say that, "Normal activities have resumed. We remain alert and have taken all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our campus community."
Police declined to confirm the call or threat, but did say that officers were at the scene.
