A 50-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash in a residential section of Farmingville Friday afternoon, according to a release from Suffolk County Police.

Kevin Buttigieg, of Farmingville, was driving a Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Lakeside Drive when he crashed into a 2012 Nissan Maxima that was turning into a driveway on that road near Faculty Lane at about 4:20 p.m., according to the release.

Buttigieg was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Maxima driver was uninjured, the release said.

Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to call them at 631-854-8652.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
