Farmingville hookah bar owner, worker face charges
The proprietors of a Farmingville hookah bar were arrested and hit with weapons charges and a host of code violations, Suffolk Police said Saturday.
Police and State Liquor Authority investigators shut down the Tiki Hookah Bar, 1075 Portion Road, Friday night after an investigation found the establishment violated a series of Brookhaven Town code violations, fire code violations and the state Alcohol Beverage Control law, police said.
The bar's owner, Sule Mavruk, 25, of Coram, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Her brother, Tunahan Mavruk, 18, of Coram, who police said works at the bar, was charged with second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
Both Mavruks were released on bail Saturday, police said. They could not be reached for comment.
