A Farmingville man, already under surveillance for alleged drug offenses, will be arraigned Wednesday morning in First District Court in Central Islip after being arrested earlier this week with more than $10,000 worth of heroin in his car, law enforcement officials said.

A spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said Lonnie Walker, 29, was out on bond related to a November arrest when he was arrested by the Suffolk Sheriff's Department and detectives from the District Attorney's Heroin Task Force following a brief chase on the Long Island Expressway on Monday. Spokesman Robert Clifford said Walker was in possession of 12 sleeves of heroin -- 1,246 bags -- with a street value of more than $10,000.

Walker was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance and, officials said, additional charges are under consideration.

Walker was charged with fourth-degree possession back in November after police said he was targeted in a home-invasion robbery by two men -- one of whom police believe is a member of the notorious Bloods street gang. Those arrests were made after detectives infiltrated the home-invasion crew, officials said.

Officials said 140 decks of heroin and a .357 magnum revolver were seized -- the heroin from Walker's condo, the gun from the car taking the two alleged robbers to the site.
