A fast-moving fire Sunday morning damaged a Kings Park home and sent two people to the hospital, according to fire authorities.
Mark O'Brien, chief of the Kings Park Fire Department, said he received a call about a house fire on Eugene Drive at 8:52 a.m.
When he and other rescuers arrived, they found the four occupants had gotten out of the burning house.
The fire, which began in the rear on the first floor, had rapidly spread to the second floor and into the attic, he said.
"It moved pretty quick," he said.
O'Brien's department was joined by fire crews from Commack, East Northport and Smithtown, as well as the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Two of the occupants were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital -- one with minor burns, and the other with smoke inhalation, O'Brien said.
The fire, which took about a half-hour to control, is under investigation by the Suffolk County Arson Squad and the Smithtown fire marshal's office, although O'Brien said that was routine and the fire did not appear to be suspicious.
