Fatal crash on Southern State

A fatal crash involving two vehicles on the Southern State Parkway halted eastbound traffic for several hours Sunday, authorities said.
The driver of a Nissan 240SX was killed and another driver injured, State Police said.
The crash shortly before 1:15 p.m. blocked motorists heading east between exits 42 and 43 in the North Bay Shore area, police said. The highway reopened about 5 1/2 hours later.
Police said a crash investigation was under way but disclosed few details about the crash or victims.
