Hilton Spokony, 45, of East Patchogue, killed in car crash, police say

A man was killed in North Patchogue on Thursday night after the car he was a passenger in collided with a pickup truck while making a turn, Suffolk County police said.
Around 10:10 p.m., the driver of a 2023 Kia Forte was traveling south on Waverly Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto Buckley Road when the Kia collided with a 2016 Dodge Ram traveling north on Waverly Avenue.
The Kia's sole passenger, Hilton Spokony, 45, of East Patchogue, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital Suffolk in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The 79-year-old driver of the Kia, who police was was Spokony's mother-in-law, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The 55-year-old driver of the Dodge was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
