Suffolk County detectives are investigating after a pickup truck struck and killed a toddler in the driveway of a home on Maureen Drive in Mount Sinai at 12:42 p.m. Saturday, police said. Credit: James Carbone

A toddler was killed after being struck by a pickup truck in Mount Sinai on Saturday, Suffolk County police said.

The child, whose identity and age were not released, was fatally struck by a Ram 1500 in the driveway of a Maureen Drive home at 12:42 p.m., according to a police department news release. Police said the child’s father, 43, and mother, 44, were on the scene during the incident.

The child was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

A police spokesperson declined Newsday’s request for further details, including who was in the truck at the time of the incident. More details will be released Sunday, the spokesperson said.

Suffolk County detectives were investigating. Police asked anyone with information to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
