A fire at a mobile home in Riverhead killed a 63-year-old man Friday night, police said.

The man's name wasn't released pending notification of family.

Riverhead police said they responded to R&R Mobile Home Park at 235 Old Country Rd., at 11:40 p.m.

The victim, an adult male, was found by two other occupants of the home on Red Bird Place, inside the mobile home park. He suffered severe burns to his body, and died at Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was taken by Suffolk County police helicopter, police said.

Members of the Riverhead Fire Department contained the flames to the victim's bedding and doused the flames.

The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad detectives are assisting with the fire investigation, police said.

No cause had been determined and the investigation is continuing, police said.

The Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the victim to the police helicopter.
