Motorcyclist dies in Centereach crash, Suffolk County police say

A motorcyclist died after colliding with a Jeep in Centereach on Monday night, police said.
Steven Benjamin, 26, of Selden, was going west on Middle Country Road on a 2004 KTM motorcycle, Suffolk County police said in a news release early Tuesday.
He collided with a 2010 Jeep Liberty heading east that was turning left onto Eastwood Boulevard about 8:05 p.m., police said.
Benjamin was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The 17-year-old female driver of the Jeep, also of Selden, remained at the scene and was not injured, police said. She was not identified. Police said the crash appears to be non-criminal.
Police impounded the motorcycle and Jeep for safety checks and detectives asked anyone with information to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
Middle Country Road was closed after the crash until about midnight, police said.
