Suffolk County police on Wednesday identified the woman struck and killed while crossing the street in East Farmingdale Saturday night as Meghann Jones, 43.
Jones was trying to cross Route 110 at Conklin Street from east to west when she was stuck by the driver of a southbound Hyundai at about 8:30 p.m., the department wrote in a news release. Police did not identify Jones' hometown.
"The pedestrian was crossing the roadway where there is no crosswalk and stepped in front of the vehicle," the department's press office wrote in an email.
She was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where she was declared dead.
The driver won't be charged, the email said.
