Dad, baby rescued after vessel ran aground, officials say
A father and his 4-month-old infant were treated for minor injuries after the boat they were riding aboard ran aground along Fire Island Sunday evening, authorities said.
Suffolk County Police Marine and U.S. Coast Guard officers responded to a call at about 5:50 p.m. reporting a boat that ran aground along Ocean Beach in Fire Island.
A Suffolk county police spokeswoman said the 4-month-old baby and her father were taken to a hospital and treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. Two other adult passengers were also transported from the area, but did not suffer any injuries.
